Now recruiting VITA Volunteers for the 2020 Season!

What is VITA?

United Way’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is helping thousands of Greenwood area families maximize their refunds and credits, and save hundreds in unnecessary tax prep fees. VITA offers free tax help to people who generally make $60,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.

Who do we need?

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to serve as IRS-certified tax preparers, no previous experience required. All training provided for FREE at the United Center in Greenwood.

We are also recruiting for positions that require no or minimal tax law training. Greeters and screeners work with clients before taxes are prepared to ensure clients have what they need and understand the tax preparation process.
